DVD VIDEO GROUP UNVEILS REDESIGNED WEB SITE
New Look and Added Features Provide Greater Resources to Site Visitors Including a Video Retail Locator

LOS ANGELES — April 12, 1999 — The DVD Video Group announced a redesigned Web site (www.dvdvideogroup.com), providing users not only a new look, but also a more comprehensive resource for information on all aspects of DVD Video.

One of the recently added features allows users to search for their nearest DVD Video software retailer by entering their zip code. The database includes thousands of video stores throughout the country and gives consumers the store name, address and phone number of the five closest stores. Store locations include a map made available by MapQuest’s InnerConnect. This database was compiled in partnership with the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA).

In addition to the weekly top DVD Video sales lists, the site also allows users to search some 2,500 titles by title, studio, genre or rating, as well as keep an eye on upcoming release dates. Site visitors also have the option to look at Academy Award Winning "Best Picture" titles now available on DVD Video. All lists can be downloaded on PDF or Excel format (both Windows and Mac).

"We’re pleased to offer consumers what they want — a Web site that gives them up-to-the-minute information on DVD Video, including the most current list of titles, a guide to set up a home theater and a locator for their nearest video store carrying DVD," said Emiel N. Petrone, chairman, DVD Video Group and executive vice president, Philips Entertainment Group, a unit of Philips Electronics.

Visitors with questions about hardware are now provided extensive lists of suggested retail prices and feature comparisons for the DVD Video player manufacturers and models.

The web site also provides comprehensive information about DVD Video technology, including the "Top 10 Things Everyone Must Know About DVD Video," answers to frequently asked questions and definitions of terms consumers face when first introduced to the technology. Web site visitors are also able to view a DVD Video demo on Macromedia Shockwave.
